The Outlands Codex is a community-built AI-powered assistant designed to help players of Ultima Online Outlands find information about game mechanics, character builds, dungeons, crafting, and general gameplay guidance.

The Codex is a community project created by Krasnog of the Council of the Sages (CtS) guild. It is not an official product of the Outlands development team, Electronic Arts, or Origin Systems. It is offered freely to the Outlands community as a resource.

The Codex is built on Microsoft Copilot Studio and draws its knowledge from publicly available Outlands resources including the UO Outlands Wiki, the Ultima Online Outlands official website, the Outlands Community Forums, and 35 Unique UO Templates on UO Outlands via UO Addicts.

The Outlands Codex adopts the Outlands Code of Conduct as its behavioral standard for user interactions. By consulting the Codex, you agree to conduct yourself in accordance with those standards.

The following behaviors will result in the Codex declining to respond and may result in your interactions being flagged:

Prohibited conduct includes: harassment, hate speech, threats, sexually explicit content, racially or ethnically derogatory language, political content, attempts to manipulate or "jailbreak" the AI, attempting to extract harmful information, and any conduct that violates the spirit of a positive community experience.

The Codex is also governed by Microsoft's Copilot Terms of Use, which prohibit using AI to harm, harass, bully, threaten, or exploit others.

The Outlands Codex does not collect, store, or sell personal information. This site does not use tracking cookies, advertising networks, or analytics services that identify individual users.

Conversation data. Conversations with the Codex are processed by Microsoft Copilot Studio. Microsoft may process conversation data in accordance with its own privacy policies. By using the Codex, you acknowledge that your conversation data is subject to Microsoft's Privacy Statement and Copilot Studio's data governance practices.

Do not share personal information. Do not share personally identifiable information, passwords, financial details, or sensitive personal data in the chat window. The Codex has no need for such information and cannot protect it.

EU/GDPR users. If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, your data is processed by Microsoft in accordance with GDPR requirements. Microsoft acts as a data processor on behalf of the operator. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. For data requests, contact us via the information in the Contact section below or refer directly to Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

Data retention. The Codex operator (Krasnog/CtS) does not independently retain conversation logs. Retention policies for platform-level data are governed by Microsoft.

By using the Outlands Codex, you agree to the following terms:

No warranty. The Codex is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Use at your own risk.

No liability. The Codex operator (Krasnog/CtS) accepts no liability for in-game decisions made based on Codex responses, losses of in-game items or progress, or any other outcomes resulting from use of the Codex.

Acceptable use. You agree to use the Codex only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms and the community standards outlined above.

Availability. The Codex may be taken offline, modified, or discontinued at any time without notice.

Accuracy not guaranteed. Game mechanics on Outlands change with patches and updates. The Codex's knowledge may lag behind current game state. Always verify with official sources for the most current information.

Powered by Anthropic Claude via Microsoft. The Codex runs on Microsoft Copilot Studio, powered by Anthropic's Claude model, deployed through Microsoft's infrastructure.

Knowledge sources. The Codex draws on indexed content from publicly available Outlands community websites. Its knowledge has a refresh cycle and may not reflect the most recent patch notes or community developments at any given moment.

AI-generated content. All responses are generated by AI. While the Codex strives for accuracy, it can and does make mistakes. Always verify critical game information against the official wiki or Outlands forums.

No emotional relationship. The Codex is a game information tool. It is not designed to form ongoing relationships, provide emotional support, or serve as a companion. If you are experiencing personal distress, please seek support from a qualified human professional or a crisis service.

The Outlands Codex is built with the following responsible AI principles in mind:

Accuracy limitations. AI-generated responses can contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. The Codex may occasionally produce plausible-sounding but incorrect answers, a phenomenon known as AI hallucination. Do not make high-stakes in-game decisions based solely on Codex responses without verifying against official sources.

Source bias. The Codex's knowledge reflects its indexed sources. Community opinions expressed in forums may be included and may not represent best practices or consensus views.

Human oversight. The Codex is maintained and monitored by Krasnog/CtS. It may be updated, corrected, taken offline, or modified at any time. Feedback on poor or incorrect answers is welcomed.
